Rating: - He loved it
I got this as a gift for my husband to be. He loves it. His playing has improved so much since he started using it.
Rating: - Rethinking independence
Two days ago I returned from my second lesson with Alan Schechner. I hope that anyone who has seen his DVD, Coordination and Groove, was as inspired as I was. It would make me feel better I knew that they they struggled as much as I did to get my head around what he was talking about in this amazing DVD. Being a perpetual newb drummer, I seek rhythmic concepts that do NOT delve into the obvious: jazz mastery, odd-time wizardry, double-bass speed demons and the like.
Schechner's DVD ... Read More
Rating: - ...it could use a little more cowbell.
I just got the dvd and it has to be the worst. The film quality is low, and the guy has a fever for more cowbell. Beware before you buy, definitely not for rock nor metal.
Rating: - FANTASTIC Video to open up new creative doors.
Every player who desires to advance and add new "stuff" to their toolkit can benefit from this DVD. It's ALWAYS helpful to see things from different perspectives. Personally, I like to check out DVD's like this to INSPIRE me in new directions. I don't necessarily mimic every exact move on the video. The sheer independence stuff on here is exciting enough to make the light bulb pop on!
The reviewer below obviously missed the point on this fine DVD - not having a cowbell pedal should ... Read More
Rating: - Disappointing unless you have a foot-operated cow bell
A talented drummer, but I was amazed how just about everything he did revolved around this foot-operated cowbell. It was kinda like the old Monte Python skit that gave us our redefined word, "spam". Everything *needed* this cowbell! On the other hand, if you need a really complex and predominant cowbell in your beat, this is the book for you.
I also bought the Tommy Igoe DVD. It is much, much better..
